Claustrophobia

(Copenhagen, continued.)

Wanted to tell you that I had a huge hostel room in Copenhagen that was a like something from the Borg. The ceiling was cobalt blue and the floor gray.

They partitioned it with white formica. In the walls they created, there were hallways with slits a meter wide where they stacked pairs of beds three high. They were so cramped, they felt like pods (or railway couchettes). It's the first time I felt simultaneously claustrophobic and agoraphobic. With this, they were able to fit 100 people into one room. I took a couple pictures to document the setup.

Nonetheless, when I asked, they were kind enough to move me to the 14 person room for no additional charge.

Speaking of phobias, I was climbing a church tower in Copenhagen that was giving visitors (including me) an unusual case of acrophobia. It had a spiral staircase on the outside of the bell tower and my body did not like reminded that it was climbing up as it went around the tower which swayed a little in the wind.
