In Sydney with Jade, Jimena, and Amanda.
I grew up on Lake Michigan, in South Haven, Michigan. Around the
age of 8, I started with computers. At 13, I picked up my camera.
I've been doing both, professionally, ever since.
In the fall of 2000, I worked as a photo supervisor at the Sydney
Olympic Games. Prior to the games, I backpacked Australia's east
coast from Cairns to Sydney. I scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef,
climbed mountains, and swam under rainforest waterfalls.
Traveling in the opposite direction, I have been to Europe eight
times. For a summer semester, I studied Italian language and Renaissance
culture in Florence. I celebrated the new millenium in Berlin and
the following new year in Budapest.
Needless to say, I have friends around the world.
I like to eat internationally, too. Italian, Chinese and Indian
are my first choices when dining out.
My CD collection includes Kent
(Sweden) and Faithless
(UK). Closer to the US mainstream, recent purchases include Moby
and Weezer.
I've held press passes to photograph Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls,
Barenaked Ladies, and Sarah Mclachlan.
Random favorites: Claes
Oldenburg, Antoní
Gaudí, Barcelona,
Hundert
Wasser, William
Stafford, NY Times, Maggie
Estep.
Recent reading: Dilbert and the Way of the Weasel, Newspaper
Revolutions and Dispatches from the Tenth Circle.
