American Indian museum | Gannett News Service

This website was designed to capture the energy of the opening of the latest Smithsonian Institution museum and be a guide for later visitors.

Staff from Gannett News Service and USA Today contributed pieces of this project, including reporting, opening day photography and a 3D rendering of the building.

Visitors can click on portions of floor plans to see exhibits.

At my request, the Gannett News Service's chief photographer took portraits of participants in the parade. He went out and bought a muslin background. We carried it along with a bounce reflector and chose people along the National Mall to photograph.
