Dear Mr. Yeadon:
On April 15, my firm wrote a letter to the East Lansing Police Department requesting that it immediately cease the online publication of copyrighted photographs taken by our client, David McCreery. Now it has come to our attention that the Department and the City of East Lansing are also broadcasting these copyright images on TCI Cablevision channel 23.
As you know, these photographs are copyrighted, and the City's continuing broadcast of them on television constitutes a separate act of infringement from its publication of them online. Please remove Mr. McCreery's photographs from any television broadcast immediately to avoid further infringement. It is my continued hope that we can resolve this issue through license rather than litigation, but the City's continued, unauthorized use of these images threatens such a result.
If you have any questions about this letter, please do not hesitate to contact me. In any event, please let me know by Monday, May 24, whether you intend to cease broadcast of these images.
Best regards,
Edward J. Walters
Attorney for David McCreery
